Thrive YTT FAQs
WHAT STYLE OF YOGA IS THE THRIVE YOGA TEACHER TRAINING (YTT)?
Thrive is a Vinyasa-based training that teaches a method that balances clear instruction and alignment, breath and fluid movement. Classes are carefully themed to deepen the students’ experience of Yoga. A flow of namaskars and postures are skillfully and progressively sequenced with modifications and props used to individualize the practice for each student. The Thrive YTT is based on this clear and effective style of practice. Thrive-style classes can be paced moderately to vigorously depending on the level of the class.
HOW PROFICIENT IN YOGA DO I HAVE TO BE TO DO THE 200-HOUR PROGRAM?
We recommend that you have a minimum of 6 months of a consistent yoga practice before enrolling in our teacher training program. We want to make sure that trainees have a basic foundation in the primary yoga postures before learning how to teach. If it appears that you do not have the necessary foundation, we will kindly ask you to defer your training until you have this experience. Please be aware that each day includes over two hours of asana.
WHAT WILL I LEARN IN THE 200-HOUR THRIVE YTT?
In addition to making lifelong friends and deepening your experience of yoga, you will study the following topics in depth:
• Asana – learn the safe and intelligent way to perform poses

• Working with different kinds of bodies/students
• How to observe bodies in practice
• Working with injuries and limitations

We have had pregnant students in our program. It all depends on how you are feeling. All students should first check with their doctor to make sure they are clear to take this training.

WHAT IS THE 200-HOUR ATTENDANCE AND CLASS MAKE-UP POLICY?
Yoga Alliance requires that you complete all 200 hours of the teacher training. However, we understand that sometimes conflicts come up, and we have developed the make-up policy listed below.
You have the following option for making up your missed time:
Schedule a private session with an approved Thrive instructor within 45 days of the program start date. The cost of a private session is $100 per hour:
• 1 hour private = 1-4 hours of missed time
• 1.5 hour private = 5-6 hours of missed time
• 2 hour private = 7-8 hours of missed time
• 2.5 hour private = 9-10 hours of missed time
• 3 hour private = 11-13 hours of missed time
Please note: Only two sessions of private instruction, regardless of hours, are allowable and are subject to instructor availability. The remainder of your missed time will need to be made up in a future training (see Make Up option 2 below). Private make up sessions are only an option within 3 months of the program start date.
Please note that if you miss over 27 hours, you will not pass the program and will be required to pay in full to retake the program.
WHAT IS THE YOGA ALLIANCE?
Yoga Alliance is an organization that was started in 1999 as a way to create nationally recognized standards for yoga teachers and yoga teacher trainings in the US. More and more yoga studios across the country are requiring their teachers to register with the Yoga Alliance, either at the 200-Hour or 500-Hour level. Yoga Alliance registration, however, is not a legal requirement for teaching yoga. Currently, there are no legal certification requirements to be a yoga teacher. The Thrive Power Yoga YTT is approved at the Yoga Alliance 200-Hour level.
WILL I BE QUALIFIED TO TEACH YOGA ONCE I COMPLETE THE 200-HOUR TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM?
Yes! With the successful completion of all the requirements of the program, including contact hours, homework, and exam, you will receive your Diploma evidencing your training at the 200-Hour Level. You may also register with the Yoga Alliance (www.yogaalliance.org) at the RYT-200 level (Registered Yoga Teacher 200). Graduates of the 200-Hour program usually begin teaching in small studios, gyms, with private clientele (friends and family), etc.
